I thought I would add these pictures  from our day today J.

We are working on Australian history at the minute as our group study.  We are reading the ‘Everyday life in Australia book,  South Australia’s Colonial years by Janeen Brian’ this week and having group discussions about part we read that day.  The kids also discussed how Traditional Aboriginals used to live and made Aboriginal Humpies.

T and L worked on mosaics today, T working on a turtle and L worked on a frog.  As it was L’s free choice box he put the frog up to be completed tomorrow, both kids found the mosaics challenging and therefore reasonably time consuming.  F wasn’t happy she isn’t old enough to do the mosaics, luckily I managed to convince her to do a couple of puzzles instead.

L made a couple of sentences out of the make a sentence cards, once I had approved of them I blu-tacked them to the whiteboard so he could copy them into his book.  Rather than putting all the words up on the board I kept a couple down to see if he would pick it up, Pleased to say he noticed almost straight away (well before he got to the where the words should have been).  He said mum you forgot to put  “go” here and “the” there,  it proved that he was paying attention and not just copying without reading what he was writing.  I think I will keep this tactic (just not every time) as it worked so well.

T had to research on the computer about the ‘Stolen Generation’ and write a mini report on it then tell me what she had learned.

F   LOVES doing the trace and learn pages!  Last year she would only do the number ones but today she was really keen to do the Letter ones!
